Replacement UPVC Door Handles
Whether you're replacing your handles or need to add extra security, you'll find the right handle for your door. These handles made of upvc are easy to install and will meet the 92mm minimum centre distance of multipoint locks.
The backplate's fixing centre as well as the lever/keyhole dimensions are the most important measurements. Check these carefully against your current measurements prior to ordering.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles are made up of a lever on one side, and a paddle-shaped handle on the other. They are designed to work with key wind locks however, they can also be fitted to multipoint split spindle door locks (though you'll need an additional dual spindle lock case).
Our selection of upvc handle lever pads are available in a range of finishes. These will be shown in the drop down list once you have found the correct handle for your doors. Certain types of handles are not available in all finishes. Always look over the technical drawings and dimensions for the product you are looking for to ensure that you get the right size and fit.
It is essential that when selecting the new set of upvc lever pad handles, they match the PZ (distance from the handle spindle to the center of the hole of the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because they are required to be aligned to ensure that doors stay locked, regardless of whether you are looking at them from the inside or outside. The handles we sell are designed to work with a variety of standard cylinder locks, but it is advisable to double-check before ordering.
You will need to remove the handles on your current handle and remove the lock case if upgrading to dual spindle handle levers since this will require an additional split cylinder inline. These can be bought separately and we offer an entire technical diagram to take a look at in the pictures for each product.
Once you have removed the screws that hold your existing door handle it is an ideal idea to loosen them, and then inspect the mechanism to see the condition it is in. You may need to loosen the screws further in the event that they are not tight, and then you can remove the old handle and spindle and install your new door handle made of upvc. It is important to ensure that the handle is in the right position prior to screwing it into place. You can do this by placing your finger between the frame and the handle, to ensure that it's level.
Lever/Lever
Lever door handles operate with a multi-point lock that utilizes a Euro cylinder. They can be found on a majority of upvc double doors, aluminium doors, and some wooden doors. They are equipped with a lever inside and an outside paddle and are usually supplied in two types. Sprung - These have a spring cassette inside the backplate to help bring the handle lever to an upright position. Non-sprung - These do not have a spring mechanism, and will require manual pulled to raise the handle lever back to its horizontal position.
To fix a door handle that is sagging, you will need to locate the detent access hole or pin, which is usually an elongated or rectangular shaped hole or protruding pin situated on one side of the handle base plate. Once you have located the hole for accessing the detent or pin, you can take it out using the help of a screwdriver.
When the handle is in a horizontal position you can re-install the screws and tighten them so that the handle remains secure on the base plate. Consider applying a threadlocking solution to the screw threads in order to increase grip and stop them from loosing over time.
Drooping lever door handles can be caused by a number of factors. The most frequent cause is that the fixings aren't tight and the lever bearing to bind up against the door. It could also be that the levers aren't operated at a straight angle and this is causing the latch mechanism preventing it from fully springing back into operation.
Another common cause is that the lever that is sprung is not working properly. This is usually due to the sprung not being in the correct position within the backplate. The simplest way to check this is to operate the handle to check if it returns to the horizontal position.
If your door handles are loose, it is important to identify the issue fast, as this could lead to excessive wear on the screws, and even to the handle falling off of the base plate. It is also recommended to tighten any loose screws on a regular basis to stop them from becoming looser.
Lever/Snib
These upvc handles are called 'Snib handle sets' and feature the snib lock button on the top of the lever. If you do not have a dummy locking device then you can use this device to lock the door. They are typically fitted with a Fullex 68PZ (that's 68mm between the spindle's centre and the lever or lock centre) door lock. We also have a selection of 68PZ door handle from manufacturers such as Ferco and Fab & Fix.

Mortise

The tubular latch is the most likely to be the culprit if your uPVC door handle is slammed shut. There are a few factors that could cause this, one of which is a simple lack of lubrication on the latch plate. This can be corrected easily by opening the door and spraying lubricant over the lock and handle. It could also be that the latch has slipped away from the backplate. This can be a bit more complicated and will require a specialist to fix it.
A multipoint door handle system is a great solution to solve the issue of a stuck door handle. These handles mount through the faceplate of the door and are operated by a thumb turn knob or key which activates an electronic cam that locks the deadbolt. The handles are available in a variety of sizes to fit different types of uPVC door, and come in various attractive finishes that match existing hardware. The handles can be purchased on the internet or through the local locksmith and are easy to install with clear instructions.
You'll have to know your PZ cylinder's size to select the right replacement handle set. This is the distance in millimetres between the inside edge of the door frame and the centre of the hole in the handle. You'll also require the type of lock on your door, whether it is a mortise or hook lock. Once you have these measurements, the simplest way to find the correct handles is to use the filter by brand on the website. This will narrow down your choices and allow you to choose the appropriate size from there.
A typical handle set includes an arm, two screws of different lengths, drill guides, and instructions for installation.
